Apple released iOS 17.0.1 to the general public on Thursday, less than a week after the release of iOS 17 and a day before the release of the iPhone 15. Apple said the update fixes three security issues that may be actively being exploited, so everyone should download it.

Go to to download the update Settings > General > Software updatecrane Install now and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are an iOS developer or beta tester, you will need to disable beta access to download the update by visiting Settings > General > Software update > Beta updates and tap Out.

Apple said the update fixes an issue in WebKit (the engine that powers Safari and other third-party browsers on iOS) that could lead to arbitrary code execution. That means a third party could steal your data or hack your device for other nefarious purposes, according to the IT service provider Okta.

Another problem lies in the iOS kernel: the core of your iPhone’s operating system. Apple said the security vulnerability could allow an attacker to give themselves more rights to access more code from your iPhone. And the last problem allows an attacker to bypass signature validation.
